Potty dazzlers 3-4PM

Paul Harrison is a passionate gardener with a wealth of knowledge gained from his work with the New Towns Commission in large scale Landscape Design and Management alongside his own specialist horticultural agency working on behalf of the Dutch Bulb Industry. After such positive feedback from his entertaining talk last year we have invited him back to Ruxley Manor to give his popular Potty Dazzlers talk. Paul’s top tips, professional insights and good humour will leave you brimming with ideas for your own container displays as well as all the knowledge you need to make them a dazzling reality!

Royal gardens 3-4pm

Join Jim Buttress as he takes you through humorous anecdotes and informative stories from his life as a royal gardener. Jim started working at a local nursery, moving on to the Greater London Council, and ended up with the Royal Parks in London, where he was responsible for Hyde Park, St James Park, Clarence House and Buckingham Palace. He has won eight gold medals at RHS Chelsea and in recognition of his unrivalled contribution to horticulture, in 2006, he was awarded the highest accolade possible in the gardening world, the Victoria Medal of Honour (VMH).

Hanging basket workshop 3 - 4PM

Deb Hart has worked in horticulture for 26 years and trained and taught as a professional florist. Join her in creating the perfect hanging basket for your garden. This workshop will run through a step-by-step guide to creating beautiful, professional looking basket displays that will last all summer long. Explore how to fill containers for colour throughout the year. (Plants, compost and basket supplied)

A practical 2-hour workshop, where Carol Jones, lifestyle blogger and photographer, will show you how to capture garden and flat-lay floral photography, with an emphasis on inspiration, composition and lighting. This is a creative and non-technical course, suitable for beginners and amateur photographers. Attendees are welcome, and encouraged, to come along with their camera phones.

Join David Rea, Vice Chair of Ruxley Beekeepers, as he shares his extensive knowledge of bees, beekeeping and honey making. This free talk includes a presentation, hands-on honey tasting and opportunities to ask David more specific questions at the end of the session. If you want to know more about the bees in your garden, apiaries or honey this will be an exciting talk to attend and an opportunity to talk with one of the leading experts in the area

Mike Sokolowski has vast experience having worked for the internationally acclaimed Rose Breeders and Growers, David Austin Roses. Come and hear him talk about the scale and intricacies of breeding new Rose varieties, from seed through to launch at the Chelsea Flower Show. He will also share his in-depth knowledge including cultivation, planting and care advice as well as talking about some of his personal favourite varieties and their versatility in the garden.

ORCHID DAY 11am - 3:30pm

Dr Manos Kanellos returns to Ruxley Manor this year to give orchid enthusiasts the chance to find out how to best look after their plants. Talks and repotting demos are at 11am and 2pm, The Orchid Clinic between 11am - 15:30pm (except during talks). Feel free to bring your orchid in for an MOT.

Wreath making workshop 4:30pm - 6:30pm

Join Pauline Coppard in this creative workshop where you will craft your very own beautiful Christmas wreath. She will teach you how to build a beautiful wreath using a variety of seasonal colours and foliage. All materials are included and you will take your creation home at the end to hang on your front door or give away as a great gift.
